Dear Readers,

Jesus is not a Hellenist! His mother Mary is not a Hellenist! God is certainly not a Hellenist! Indeed the very existence of Hellenism, and certainly men’s belief in it, is an affront to God. Not just because it violations so many mitzvahs (translated ‘commandments’) given to us by God through Moses as pointers, but because it places the worship of the male form, indeed “man-worship”, before God. [There are additional notes below]

We are dedicated to the Traditionalist view Jesus taught of the absolute co-equality and balance between men and women. Our premise is that God created us this way to be whole, complete, unified – as One, through one another, masculine and feminine. That is what Jesus taught men. We are discussing how the Word of God as taught by Jesus of Nazareth was willfully or inadvertently misrepresented or misunderstood such that men came to believe they were somehow more equal. God is One! We are one! Jesus said,

“Hear O Israel – The Lord our God is One Lord. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’

This is the first and great commandment.

The second is like it, namely this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Pages 305 – 306)

We honor the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on this day – the day he is remembered with a National Holiday in the United States as a man of peace. Like Jesus of Nazareth said, he was a man who was willing to give his life for his friends:

“Greater love has no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (Page 346.)

And we consider him a friend. The Rev. Dr. King’s ministry was in many respects modeled on the ministry of Jesus of Nazareth, and very many people consider him every part a Messiah to all men and women of conscience. There are three pillars of his ministry that are well known which we would like to highlight as reflections of God’s Divine Feminine:

a. His commitment to non-violence

b. His commitment to reconciliation

c. His opposition to war

A most gifted and eloquent speaker, the Rev. Dr. King was never as directly critical of men in power as Jesus was of the Pharisees. So in the context of Jesus’ ministry, it just feels right to point out that when he criticized the Pharisees for their Hellenist ways, one point which stands out among the others is injustice. Again and again he commented on Pharisees and their Scribes interpreting God’s Law for their personal gain, laying burdens upon others they would not bear themselves, and devouring the possessions of others.

We will discuss these specific points another time, however what Jesus observed was that whichever men controlled the mechanisms of the legal system controlled its enforcement, its application, interpretation, and ultimately defined who was a violator. And with that kind of power they can meet out punishment, right? As the Rev. Dr. King observed, in such ways, injustice could easily become institutionalized – and did, serving the will of the elite men who control it. But this is by design, not by accident or coincidence after all. In Jesus’ time the Hellenists and the Pharisees were very deliberate in pursuing their own selfish self-will after all.

As both Jesus and the Dr. Rev. King drawing our collective attention toward Justice affords us all a unique opportunity to consider this most masculine of traits from a feminine perspective. We feel it is, after all the absence of the Divine Feminine’s balancing influence on the Divine Masculine that distinguishes our One True God from the ‘man-worship’ of Hellenism. What did Mary say?

“God has helped the servant Israel, in remembrance of mercy.” (Page 43.)

Mary’s elegant reminder of the Traditionalist view is that God is equal parts Love and Law. That as feminine and masculine aspects they balance one another. And in this way, feminine Mercy balances masculine Justice. And is the so-called justice of Hellenist men without Traditionalist mercy not tyranny? We need look no further than the Greeks outlawing God, or the Romans oppressing the Israelites, or injustice in America.

What those men who claim to love the lord our God forget is the subtle way in which Hellenism afflicts their urges and impulses long before even their motives and intentions form. Such that as these men’s fear-based ego-centric selfishness become thoughts, they really believe themselves different, special, god-like even. The danger is when their thoughts become words of frustration, fear and hate, and their actions manipulative, controlling, aggressive, and violent even.

As God’s Ruach HaKodesh – the Divine Feminine aspect, Holy Spirit or just Spirit, arises, her influence will dissolve the fear that causes the illusion of separation between men and women, between men and men, indeed between all people. As surely as any of Jesus’ teachings about God’s Divine Balance and co-equality of God’s masculine and feminine energy is Feminine-ism, the Dr. Rev. King said:

“I have a dream that my children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”

God is undifferentiated masculine and feminine energy in perfect balance, whole, complete, unified, and co-equal. God is neither male nor female, and yet both – inseparable! And as a reflection of God’s Divine Balance, God made each of us manifest as male and female, man and woman, in God’s perfect likeness! Truly a state of grace.

How Adam’s actions brought about the fall from this state of grace is something we will discuss elsewhere. Suffice it to say that long before Jesus was born, men and women were already out of balance. In the more immediate sense of events which took place in Israel before Jesus was born, I found the Seleucid Greek invasion critically important because of the belief system we call “Hellenism” the Greeks forced on the children of Israel at that time.

It may not be especially well known today but the Seleucid Greeks from Syria outlawed our One True God! They forbade the worship of God under the penalty of death. Their King Antiochus IV Epiphanes (Antíochos D’ ho Epiphanḗs, “God Manifest”), believing he was god, decreed the people would have no other god before him.

Hellenism did cause divisions among the people though. On one hand identifying with the Greek empire and culture could enrich certain elite Israelites, but on the other hand their man-worship violated God’s Law. This divided not only those who were “Hellenists”, their supporters and adherents, from those who were “Traditionalists“, but also, apparently, men from women. Why? Because it is also in the nature of Hellenism that women be subordinate to men.

But our One True God was definitely not a Hellenist, right? Given that, Jesus was not a Hellenist – quite the opposite. We might characterize Jesus’ ministry as anti-Hellenist – teaching men in particular about the Divine Balance of God’s Feminine and Masculine aspects, specifically “Feminine-ism“. I briefly outline some basic principles of Jesus of Nazareth’s life and ministry, as they are revealed in “The Word 2.0”:

1. Jesus was a “Traditional” Hebrew-Jewish teacher and Rabbi – to say the very least!

2. Jesus was not a “Hellenist” in any sense of our understanding the word.

3. Jesus espoused and promoted that our One True God – the God of Israel, is a perfect co-equal balance of both masculine and feminine, as is reflected in all Creation.

4. Jesus said that we must love the Lord our God first and foremost, and then love one another as we love ourselves.

5. Jesus taught that love, beginning with God’s “Ruach HaKodesh” – the Breath of Life and Holy Spirit, as aspects of God’s Divine Feminine, is the only way that men can experience the Kingdom of God.

6. Jesus rejected the kind of egocentric, selfish, self-centered thinking and behavior of men that characterizes “Hellenism”.

We will discuss each of these points in much greater detail as we continue, and, look for my study guides they will soon also be available!
